Science to Sage presents Indigenous Wisdom, a day at the movies, February 12, 2011 at Unity of Vancouver lower level, 5840 Oak Street,Vancouver, BC . ( 42nd Ave. and Oak St. )
For The Next Seven Generations documents the momentous journey of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers as they travel the globe to promote world peace and share their indigenous ways of healing. Originating from all four corners, these wise elders, shamans and medicine women first came together in 2004, at an historic gathering in upstate New York. Moved by their concern for our planet, they decided to form an alliance: The International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. Facing a world in crisis, they share with us their visions of healing and a call for change now before it is too late. Through their teachings, they are lighting a way to a peaceful sustainable planet.
Produced and directed by Peabody and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Carole Hart and narrated by Ashley Judd, For The Next Seven Generations is about courageous women with a deep love and understanding of their Mother Earth that is inspiring.
A discussion hosted by Be The Change will follow the film to offer individual steps that each of us can take to strength our walk on the only home we have. The morning session will end with a unique chocolate art ceremony dedicated to anchoring personal commitments in the body and music. This portion of the event runs from 10:00am to 2:00pm and is $15.00
The Mayan, New Dawn is a film featuring Don Alejandro Perez Oxlaj, chairman of the Mayan Council of Elders. This subtitled film covers the Mayan calendar, its’ prophesies, earth changes and the awakening of Humanity. Come prepared for a lively discussion after the film. This second film begins at 2:30pm and is $10.00 at the door. Come for the morning. Come for the afternoon. Come for the whole day.
